My "chicken math" story!

I brought my first "flock" home back in early April. 3 Speckled Sussex, 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes, and 3 Golden Laced Wyandottes. One GL turned out to be a rooster, but he's a good roo, and all is going well. I'm getting 5 eggs every day from them.

Then, I found Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.....HAD to have a few. So I bought 6....5 of which ended up being cockerels, and they killed the hen.

I work at Tractor Supply, and we got Sapphire Gems in on July 26th....well, Sapphire is my birthstone, so I brought 6 home! I was able to send 3 of them along with my friend, and kept 3.

Then, we got Calico Princesses in at the beginning of September......again I brought 6 home, and my friend will also be taking 3 of them.

Now, you'd think I would be happy as can be....I'm getting eggs already, and my flock is pretty. Even the roosters behave themselves, although the BLR's are all separated from the girls in a "bachelor pad". But, NO.....

Tonight I brought home 4 more.....was supposed to be 3, but the lady threw the 4th in......and they are Ameraucanas, so how could I say no?!?!

LOL......sigh.....and now I know "chicken math" first-hand!

Ha! That's great! Blue Laced Wyandottes are GORGEOUS! I would have to get more than 6. You can never have TOO MANY chickens.

One day I will get more.....but I want to move out of state onto more land. So, for now I will keep a couple of the roosters with my other hens.
