My poor chicken was almost eaten by a coon about a month and a half ago. Some of the skin, muscle, and I don't know what, is gone off the back of his head. He is doing well all things considered. He has been having issues eating since the coon but we have him on a diet of baby food mixed with chick starter (He choked and struggled with hard solid food). He is so thin and even after he eats his craw feels empty. He eats a considerable amount twice a day. I am not knowledgeable when it comes to chickens. Any advice? He has made it this far.

I suggest you keep up what you are doing. You are trying your best. If he leaves, well you did all you could. I'm in a similar situation as you are. In August 2015 one of my hens was attacked by a dog. (not my dogs). I thought she was not going to make it. Her head was mangled and both of her eyes were scabbed and closed. I did the best I could. After a while she healed some, and her eyes did open. Even though her eyes are there, she is totally blind now. Must have sustained nerve or brain damage??? I have to place her in front of food and water, and she does eat and drink. Maybe she does still have sense of smell??? So about 5 months after the attack and she is still alive.
Do the best you can, LIFE IS PRECIOUS. I assume you are treating him as a pet.

Yes. We raised him out of the incubator. Thank you for the advice and I hope your hen lives the best life she can. What are you feeding her and has she gained weight?

I feed her Alflock pellets. I do not give her much seeds because she may not have much grit in her gizzard. She may pick up some seeds randomly off the ground. She is not gaining any weight at all but her weight is stable. She is not loosing weight ether.

She no longer lays eggs. She will be 10 years old this coming Easter April 2016. Here is a pix before the incident.

Easter Egger.
