Last week, I placed an order online with Welp for 62 chicks. I went in on an order with four friends. We ordered 12 different breeds, all pullets.

The following day, I got a call from a very nice lady at Welp to confirm the order. She said two of the breeds we wanted wouldn't be available until March, the Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and the Salmon Favorelles. No biggie. She said they could split the order so that we got a good number of chicks each time. Great! The following day, I received two emails. One for each shipping date, Feb 12 and Mar 15. Everything looked good.

But, I'd been thinking and it occured to me that if we had two orders a month apart, we would have to raise two separate groups of chicks and then integrate two separate groups of pullets into our existing flocks. Ugh.

So, I contacted my friends and asked what they wanted to do: keep two orders so we could get some chicks sooner, or change to one order. Oh, and I realized that the March 15 date was over spring break and I have reservations at the vacation club on the 16th. I won't be in town that week. The general concensus was that as much as we want chicks sooner, it would be better to raise one flock.

I emailed my contact at Welp and asked if it would be possible to go back to one order to be shipped on March 22. I received two emails today confirming the new shipping date for both orders as March 22. Yay!!! I'm so excited!

And I'm so impressed with how well Welp has handled all this. I'll be happy to post an honest opinion about the quality of the chicks and their condition on arrival after they get here (and pics, of course). I let Welp know that I would do just that after the chicks arrived. We'll see how it all goes!

Glad you got it straightened out. I'm with you, raise them as one.
