Outside with my hens <3
I have a White Leghorn named Peep and she is EXTREMELY small. They are a small breed but Peep is very small. She is the size of my 4th month old EE's.. Is this normal? Her one nail is abnormally long, is that anything to be worried about?
Thanks in advance

She might just be genetically smaller than the others. You can keep an eye on her and as long as she's eating and dining and thriving she should be fine. I would trim the nail back to normal size and just keep an eye on her. She could just be genetically predispositioned to be little. Best wishes hope this helps

There are many flocks in which there is a "runt." These chickens may be healthy and eat and drink, may even lay eggs, but are never as big as the others. Just don't breed her. If she has a long nail you can try trimming it a tiny bit about once a week. Chicken nails bleed easily--flour or corn starch can help it clot.

Thank you :) What do I clip then with? And do I have to be careful with where i cut the nail? She is like a runt cause all the other are bigger than her so I pour food into two bowls so she can get some. I have 6 chickens in all. But there are only 4 in the coop now cause I have chicks that aren't integrated with my chicken yet.

Use clippers you would use on a dog or cat. When you are holding her give her bites of chopped up scrambled egg for some extra protein and calories.
