My chicken sang the egg song!

Into the old "penalty box", huh? My 2 are extremely outgoing ... more so than any other breed or chicken I've ever had.

Yeah. . . straight to the penalty box in the next town!
I've never seen the girls so peaceful now that Penny is just a memory for them.

Hopefully, they'll start laying now that they're calm.

My chickens started laying a week and a half ago. It started with one lonely egg in the bottom of the coop floor (pictured below).

Now I get 6 eggs a day from my seven girls. They lay their eggs from when I let them out in the morning around 7am and are usually finished by noon. They don't really make a lot of noise so I just keep poking my head into the nesting boxes to see what's in there. :) I am still obsessively taking photos of the eggs and posting them to my FB so I'm sure my friends, and a few strangers, think I have lost my mind.

Good luck with anyone waiting for eggs. I totally understand the anticipation!

Wow you must have picked that up right after it was laid. It is still really wet! Nice egg though.

To "7 Biddies," those names are a hoot! Very clever play on words. All four of mine are now laying, but I don't get a consisent four eggs day.

Thank you. I have a name for a future chicken that I'm dying to use: Edna St. Vincent Will Lay.

I embrace my crazy chicken lady status! The first egg I ever got, you'd think I was the one who laid it the noise I made!

My latest ee Gertrude that started laying little blue eggs has a funny egg song! It's so cute, she skwawwwkkks err err err errr uh uh oh oh oh oh oh oh and her head goes back and forth with every sound it cracks me up! Bessie hardly makes any noise, Josephine sounds like a dying cat and Missy's fluffy bottom shakes a lot while she complains for dandelions or sprouted boss. Lenny the rooster does Lamaze in response to the girls egg songs, it's delightful!

To 7 biddies,

Very clever and totally funny! I named my first, and current, four Red Sex Links after story book characters: Little Red Hen (aka Red); Chicken Little (aka Tiny); Henny; and Penny. Red is the leader of the pack, and Tiny is the most shy, so that fits her well. When we are all out together, Tiny comes to "talk" to me, and when I talk to her, she goes into a squat and lets me pet her. I think she and I have a bond, more so than the other three.I would like to get two more next spring and will search the storybook archives for two more names. I think your names are beautifully creative.

If I can figure out the quote thing on forums, I would put it into a quote, but, alas, I haven't been able to figure it out. Any help would be great!

go to the message you want to quote, then click on the quote button. It's the 3rd one on the bottom right. thumbs up is 1st, multi is 2nd, then quote, and lastly, reply.
Anyway, after you click on the quote button scroll down the page until you see the Reply box that you usually write in. The quote should be in the text box already. You just add what you want to say below it, or even above it or in the middle of it. When you are finished writing what you want, scroll down a little more and hit submit. I hope this helps.

Just be sure you're logged in. If not, you won't see the quote button.

Wonderful good! That's what the Pennsylvania Dutch around here say when something is really cool! Thanks lots!

I rehomed 3 brown leghorns that I started with. Every chick I got after that was unwelcome and they did not do well together. It took me a while to realize that the B.L. weren't going to change. Since I let them go my coop has been so calm and the chickens are much happier.
