My chicken won't lay please HELP

I have several d'Uccle bantams and will say that they do take much longer than SF to begin laying. I would add some "egg maker" or "kick in' chicken" with omega to her feed. If you are willing to make your own feed or buy organic , it is well worth the effort in the eggs that your chickens will produce.
I must say that I agree completely with the other posts.... She is stressed and lonely. Please get her a buddy or two and her own coop. Mama just needs a place to call home and a family to share it with! The Mille Fleur D'Uccle are such a special breed and need extra TLC.

We are getting her 2 duck friends in feb... we already preordered them. We feed her and my other chickens organic food. Two questions: whats TLC and SF? Also we feed her layer pellets and she has some oyster shells in her food.

I'm guessing SF is standard fowl. TLC is tender loving care.

As for the food, don't feed a non-laying bird layer feed and by all means don't add oyster shell to the food.
Layer is 4 % calcium which is about right for one making egg shells but about 3% too high for a non-layer. Adding oyster shell to the food doesn't give the bird a choice and could possibly increase the total to 6-10%.

Excess calcium can damage kidneys and eventually lead to visceral gout.

As for friends, why not put one of the other hens with her temporarily and they can become friends so when you eventually combine her with the flock she'll have a pall.
Waiting till February will have her on her own for 4 or 5 months.

Good idea from Cedarcrest, you would do best to get her a pal who is also new to the flock and the same size. I don't know if ducks would make good companions, unless it was one call duck who had no other buddy. But I am not a duck owner! Maybe you could add a single d'uccle to your order.

She isn't going to combine with the chicken flock. We are building a duck coop for her and the 2 ducks that come in feb. Yes I know feb is a long ways away. I will try making one of the hens her friend. Which is a nicer breed if you know. A rhode island red, a barred rock, or an easter egger? which one would make a better friend for her?

I would think the bard rock would be a good buddy. I have all of those. And my bard rock and EE's are some of my nicest chickens. Good luck. I would say if it where me I might go to the feed store and get a new chicken to put in with her. My parents had chickens and ducks around a vary large fenced in area around there pond. And the three ducks where horrible to the chickens. They had to make a separate area for the chickens. But that was them. So, who knows! you'll read and hear story's on both sides. Some times its a good fit and some times its not. Hope this helps. And good luck.

Thanks for the help and I'm honored to be your first post....

WELCOME!!!!

I agree. Definitely not the RIR. The EE and Rock are similar in temperament.
Moving one of those to her space would help too since it's her house.
