My chickens are 5 months old when do I change there food

I am feeding them chick crumbles and they get treats every night. I know they will start to lay soon. Do I start with a laying food now or wait till they start laying.
They have been eating very well up to now but they slacked off on the food. I also give them grit not oyster shells yet. Any help would be appreciated. I also need to pick up a new bag of
food so I would love to pick up new and some oyster shells if you think it is OK...

They're old enough that it's not really critical. You could buy layer the next time you buy, or get some now and mix them. Oyster shell any time, if it's in a separate dish. Sometimes they accept a new food better if you introduce it gradually -- or so I've read. I've never had them refuse a feed.
