My chickens are being mean!!!

Well this might take more money than you want to invest in, but what about some of that portable net fencing with the plastic poles? They sell some that is 4 feet tall (or more) and that way you could make a moveable area for your chickens in addition to the large run. You can get non-electric or electric fence netting. Tractor supply sells a small fence charger for only about $20 (you have to have an outlet for it, it's not solar powered). If you get the electric kind - which is more expensive - you could put up signs about the voltage, and maybe even notify the mean kid's parents that their child could get hurt if he comes onto your property (also maybe some no trespassing signs).

My other suggestion - what about adding a male goose or turkey to your flock? I think if I was a brat kid I would think twice before messing with one of those!

Good luck. I totally feel for you. I hope your situation gets better.

They rent the the house

Chicknduck,

Can you speak with the landlord? Tell him his renters are causing problems? I guess it would depend on what kind of person he is if he would do anything. And what does this little soon to be felon's parents think? Have you spoke with them? I know that YOU have rights such living in peace without fear that your property will be harmed. If I were you I would install some kind of camera to catch him in the act. Then I would cause so much grief for them they would definitely move out.

I have thought about installing cameras. As for the parents I dont think the care to much about him let alone what he is doing. I havent even seen him out so Whatever. I wish I lived in the middle of nowhere. Maybe in a couple of years.lol

Tomhusker you are HILARIOUS!
I have the same problem, minus the kid. What a little brat. I am going to save up and buy more fence. I don't know what else to do. I don't like to see them in a pen, and I know their eggs are better when they free-range. Sigh.

william baffin roses are good property dividers. I swear, I need welding gloves to prune the massive things. I like to plant really thorny roses under the windows that I like to leave open 24/7 in the summertime....

BTW, Tomhusker, you made my day. har har
