My chickens are digging MASSIVE HOLE!!!!!!????

I have no bulbs or tulips left, they dug them up and then kept digging, I have to warn visitors about the holes.

I spent YEARS teaching my dogs not to dig up the yard, YEARS! Now they give me the "oh, I see how it is" look when the chickens are throwing dirt from a hole you can only see their head out of. *sigh*

mine can dig holes in the HARD packed dirt and move good size rocks. It is a wonder their claws keep up with it. They seem to like to eat the little roots in the dirt and to lounge in there on warm days.

I was about to ask the same question. Went outside to check on my girls and I couldn't find them anywhere. For a minute I thought they had figured out how to open the new lock I put on(they figured out the last one). Then I heard clucking from under the coop(about 18" clearanc:eek:e with 3 sides blocked off kindof a second coop area). I look under and I see a head pop up then one by one all 17 chickens came outta the hole! It was like a clown car!

I couldn't believe how deep that hole was.

Hello,
The older my chickens get, the more holes they seem to dig. I could not see what they were eating so I had my grandson stand by them and watch to see and sure enough the are eating small bugs.
Now I fence off a section after they move on to a new spot hoping to rid my yard of the ground bugs because I can no longer user bug killer or fertilizer.

I did have a beautiful butterfly garden but getting those eggs everyday is better.
This is my first egg.

I love my chickens so what is a few holes!
