My Chickens are eating the House!

Yeah, they ate mine too. Between the ducks and the chickens, it's gone. There was some that was blue but painted black, and they ate that too. So I don't think it's the color :p

My chickens were eating my house too. I built a short fence out of cinderblocks and just two cherry tone wood border and planted some lavender between the house and fence. They dont like lavender and when the jump on the cherry tones they perch , guess it is comfortable. I have seen the smaller hens hop in there and scratch around the lavender but havent seen or heard anymore pecking of the shingle siding.

Mine have pecked at it no matter what color it is too.

I am very afraid for your chickens. We were warned to cover all insulation materials because chickens like styrofoam and fibreglass but it can destroy their intestinal tract. Your structure needs to be resided!

Hey there, .comahad! You might be the first poster EVER from your home country. I've seen Pakistan, but not Iran! Welcome!

Care to tell us a bit about where you live and maybe a bit about your birds?

My husband sprayed our chickens once with the water hose. It was for another infraction and I doubted that they understood why the punishment. They understood. It has NEVER happened again.

.comahad :

hello !
chicken like the red and pink colour!
you can change your insulation colour with blue, because the blue is the colour that poultry doesn't like(not doesn't like, I mean they will not eat them!).
!

At the top of our coop the blue insulation is exposed and they fly up to the top shelf and peck at it. They have big holes gobbled out of it. I was out covering it all today. So the blue didn't make a difference to them! I covered ours w/ paneling (leftover from remodeling house).

We used left over laminate flooring in our ducks' dog house. They eat it too.
