My chickens are eating the mushrooms in my yard

Hi everyone,

My chickens have been going crazy lately, eating all the mushrooms that are popping up in the yard. No one is acting sick or odd in any way, but I'm concerned... if my chickens ate a poisonous mushroom, are their eggs still safe to eat??

If they keep going back and eating more 'shrooms every day, I'm assuming they are safe? Free-range chickens are supposed to be pretty good at IDing poisonous items and avoiding them, correct?

Chickens can tell what plants are safe to eat. Unless, you feed it to them. Then their little bird brains think "If THEY gave it to me, it must be safe."

Never heard that it affects the eggs. Chickens would get sick first, I'd assume. And they seem to 'know' what is OK like the OP mentioned
