Hello,

I have 5 hens they are all supposed to be laying I only get about 3 or 4 eggs a day how do I make them start laying again?
Thankyou

What breed are they? Some don't lay every day. Not much you can do about that.
Are any of them molting? That can reduce laying. Increase protein levels in feed to help speed up molting.
Shorter daylight hours can also reduce laying. You can supplement their light to get more eggs.
Do they have lice or mites? Parasites can reduce laying. Check them over closely, especially around vent and under wings. Treat if needed.
How old are they? If they've just started laying, they may not have all the bugs worked out yet. If they are 2 years or older, they may be slowing down due to age.

They started to lay a long time ago, they are not molting, maby they need a more sunnier spot there cage is in a pretty dark spot

3 or 4 eggs a day is not bad at all from 5 hens, especially this time of year as the days are getting shorter. And it does depend on the breed. Some just don't lay every day.

In order for a hen to lay she should have 14 to 16 hours of daylight. Depending on where you are located you may have to supplement their daylight with artificial light. My lights go on at 4am and off at 7 when the sun comes up. Mine are still laying as well as in summer. Good luck!
