Hi, I have two chickens that are definitely should be laying by now but aren't. Thinking it might be good to get some laying chickens to encourage them along, so in then got two chickens that had been laying for about nine months. But these two have had five days now since I got them and still haven't given a single egg. Is there something or other that I'm not doing.I also have two ducks that are about six months and also aren't laying either.
Thank you for your answers

Hi, if you live somewhere that is experiencing lower temperatures, your chickens and ducks may be waiting until it gets warmer to start laying. Your two new hens may not be laying yet since their move, because they still might need to get used to their new environment. It may take a few days or longer before they become comfortable enough to start laying again. Hope this helps.

Welcome to BYC! Yes, freshly moved chickens take a while to get used to their new digs before they get back to laying. Kelsie gave you a good link to read up on. It will tell you all the reasons why chickens may not be laying.

Good luck with your new birds and enjoy BYC!
