it is kind of strange when a hen decides to go broody in the late fall. Especially at this time of year where I live. Here in North Eastern Oregon we get ALOT of rain and wind during this time of year, but its only two chicks so they should be fine. Also congrats on the new fertile eggs! If I were you, I would get some broody breeds. These include:

*Cochins- bantam or standard both are expert brooders.
*Silkies- Of course

* Old English Game- Have never had one, but hear that they are very good setters
*Brahma- These are beautiful and extremely friendly birds. Also my current broody. She is a first time brooder and is VERY young so im hoping for the best
*Buff Orpingtons- Never had one, but hear they are good mommas
*Black Australorp- I have had one go broody twice this year she was a pretty good mom she is also one of my best layers
*Aseel or(Asil)- I am planning on getting a hen this spring and have done alot of research and they sound pretty broody. I read one post where somebody said that her Aseel was a better broody hen than her silkies!

There are many more, but these are with my knowledge and experience. Good luck!
