My chickens aren't sleeping in their coop anymore.

We started with a commercial built coop and run for 6 chickens. We aren't allowed to free range. We have since added onto their run, but the chickens sleep on a roost outside of their henhouse when they used to sleep inside before. Will they instinctively go inside as it gets colder?

Have you checked the coop to make sure that there is not a red mite infestation?

They will eventually get cold enough, maybe. You could try locking them in the coop where you want them to sleep, lock them in before bed time and until it's time to wake up.
