my chickens dont lay eggs....

hello all...
i have 20 chickens... and i have been keeping them from 3 months... and i just got a 15 eggs during this time.. i have been taking care of their feed.. they have their hen houses as well.. but they lay a very few eggs as i have told you before... please help me regarding increasing the egg production from them... because all the breeds are egg layers... and im being told by my parents that if they dont start laying eggs they wud soon slaughter them and we'll eat them up which i dont want... pleaaseeee help..

Welcome Abeera.

What kind of hens do you have, and how old are they? Are you located where the days are getting shorter? Do they free range? If so, have you checked to see if they're laying in nests outside the coop? Are they molting? If so, most chickens don't lay during that time.

If you can give us a bit more information, I'm sure we'll be able to offer some suggestions.

well they are the local egg laying breeds. and yes the days are getting shorter nowadays in here... and they do free range for about 2 to 3 hrs a day but i keep a check on them during that time so i dont think they have layed any eggs around in that time. and moulting... umm.. i dont think so... :/ can all of them moult at the same time?:/

Yes they can all molt at the same time and now is that time of the year.

they are of different ages actually.... i guess all are about more than one yr of age for sure... I have started keeping them just a few months ago...
