So I finally put my 6 week old Brahma's in their new coop two days ago. We got TERRIBLE rain last night. When I got home from work late, I moved the coop to higher ground and went to bet. I woke up to 3" of water in my house, my shed had 6 feet of water and the higher ground wasn't high enough. My poor chickens all drowned. I feel bad especially after only moving them out 2 nights ago. They were my first chickens, and now they are gone. I think I will wait a while to clean everything up and get the coop setup as a brooder this time. The flood was something that no one around here has ever seen. Anyways, time to research new birds. Maybe' I'll get Brahma's again, but not sure.
****I cleaned out the coop today, got rid of the soaking wet pine shavings and the chickens. I'll be finishing the coop completely, paint, roofing etc. before I start another brood****
