My chickens eat my garden, but I want to let them free range???

My DD let them out once and then went back in the house to play the Wii. They ate my collards, snacked on my radishes and browsed through my cabbage and lettuces.

Stay with them. It's the best way if you can't fence.

I have a pretty simple "fence" of 2 foot high plastic netting supported by bamboo stakes every 3 feet or so around my garden. It's low enough that I can easily step/reach over it to tend to things, but my chickens do not cross it. It is also hardly visible, and was very cheap to put up.

Why can't you put up a fence? if we knew the particular problem fencing is causing for you, someone might know of a solution.
