my chickens have lice will sevin dust help

I bought my 5 cochins and they have lice.I have read to use sevin dust in a bag with the chickens head out of the bag.Does this work?Is it harmful?

You will have to treat at least twice. I used sevin the first time....got quite a good dusting myself so in 10 days I used ivomec on the backs of their necks. Lots easier.\\

I would recommend using Ivomec or Eprinex (a type of ivomec). Much easier, especially for a small number of chickens. Remember to repeat in 2 weeks.

It might not be a bad idea to use Seven in the coop though - nesting material, dusting pits. You don't have to use very much either.
