I used to have a roost in my coop then once I bought a shed it didn't have one so I let them sleep on the floor after a month or two guilt got to me so I went out an bought wood and made a roosts and they will climb over it sit on it but they won't sleep on it someone tell me what I can do to make them go on it

well everynight, when they have all settled down, pick them up and sit them on the roost, they *should* stay there, if not try putting them on the roost again, do this every night when you lock them up (or when ever they are calm enought to pick up) it might take a week or a couple of weeks but after a while they'll just use the roost!
i have this problem at the moment! i got 20 new pullets and they are VERY stubborn and never want to roost on the roost at nigh, and every night i do what i've told you to do but they keep jumping off when im moving another pullet and go back to where they want to sleep! its very annoying, but the are slowly learning and about half of them have learnt to roost on the roost!

anyways good luck!!

Is there a reason to make them roost? I mean, if they are happy sleeping on the floor, why not let them?

. I worry that they will get cold or dirty( sleeping in poop). I also worry that in the winter their feet will be cold without a roost..

i wouldnt mind mine roosting where eevery they want, but where they are roosting is on a shelf where i put all my chook prodcuts and they poo al over it all and i get very annoying have poop all over everything!
