my chickens won't roost! help!

Here is where our hens lay...they lovee them! As you can see they can't sit on top, so no mess! We put golf balls in them, and they took right to it. There is a green egg in the bucket on the left! My favorite part is how easy it is to pick up, take out side and hose off. Love it! Yesterday the middle bucket had 6 eggs all pretty and waiting on me

Hey that does look good! How many chickens did you have? I have 4, they are laying in a old clothesdryer which is the best! I put some hay and a golf ball inside, they hopped in through the round opening (the door was removed) and took right to it! They're also using a cardboard box which is temporary, just to prevent laying queues LOL.

Okay so today I blocked up the nesting boxes with temporary cardboard boxes. Now the only choice is for the hens to roost in the right spot. I'll check them out tomorrow and see what they did. Will post here in the morning hopefully!

Success! It worked and they roosted. I guess consistency is important now though.

AND: they laid their eggs in the cardboard boxes LOL.

I know that's annoying, and i'm pretty sure anyway that at least one of them did sleep on the ground. Oh well, mostly a success I guess

but those chickens drive me mad with their silly habits!!

You don't need to remove or cover the nest boxes just make the roost a little higher chickens will always go for the highest place. Even if its a cm higher good luck
