My chicks are dying one by one

They are a week old now. We've been losing almost one a day since like day 2. It's all the chicks from Meyers Hatchery. The chicks from Hodges Farms are all fine(same age). But I've lost one of my marans, a white rock and all of my GLW and SLW. I think a couple were due to pasty butt. I had cleaned it off that day, but overnight it go blocked up again and was dead in the morning. This morning another one dead and no pasty butt. They seem perfectly fine until they just suddenly die. I will never order from Meyers again.

For the ones with the pasty butt; try dabbing on a bit of olive oil before you go to bed. It helps keep the poop from re-sticking.

Any other information other than pasty butt?

1. what are you feeding them?

2. what are you brooding them in?

3. what are they drinking?

4. any particular breed?

Perhaps we can figure out why. May or may not be the hatchery. If it were Mcmurray I would not be surprised. Had this going on last year. Every one saying chicks arrived doa or unhealthy.

It's been different breeds. Of course all the good ones. Haven't lost any of the BA(which sucks since they sent me more BA and less the ones I actually ordered)

My chicks from hodges farms came the same day and I only lost one of them. That was on arrival day. They have been doing fine. All are being brooded the same way.

maybe try some vitamins in the water on the ones with pasty butt I would dab some olive oil or Vaseline on the bottom to help it not get stuck. I hope you don't lose anymore. I know our one farm store said that they loss more chicks this year then in any year before so not sure what is going on.
