Totally agree! I enjoyed ordering from ideal hatchery online, but there is nothing more fun then picking specific chicks you want out of a box of hundreds. I enjoyed that but unfortunately, all but two turned into roosters. Oh well, I still have the ladies number so I will revisit her in the future and hopefully do a little better next time, it can't get but so much worse, lol. It will be a lot of fun for you when you are beginning to tell whats a roo and whats a hen. Do you hope they are one or the other?

I know.... I am so wondering what they all are and I know its too early to figure it out. So we have to play the waiting game.

When I watch them I wonder if I got alot of roo's because they really like to buck up to each other sometimes. Do hens do that too... is the right word pullet right now?

Its my impression that the chicks do not see each other for what they are yet in my observations. I think the roos regard the hens as weaker less aggressive chickens and fight them just the same. To answer your question, I have several hens that have engaged in hen to hen, or we like to call them "chick fights", just like the ones we know are roos. I think it is kind of like cats when they play fight. I think its a way of burning energy and establishing the flock wide pecking order at the same time. We always laugh when a roo gets beat by a hen, which happens enough to see everyday, lol
