My chicks are now 10 weeks but I cannot tell if I have a roo. Can't have them due to neighbors. I

First pic and 6th are my easter egger, pic 1,2,&3 are my RIR in question and 7&8 are pics of my Barred Rock. Only one RIR seems to have a small comb comared to the rest (Pic # 4). Pic number 3 is all of them together except my EE head is cut out of pic. What do you guys think? I may have to wait to see who lays eggs.

The 10 week olds should all be girls. Usually around 9 weeks or so the boys will try to crow.

I take that back the pictures finally loaded on my phone and I appears you have a few boys. Look at the hackles on the EE. I think one of RIR is a boy also.

Agree. Only see one pullet, the rest are cockerels.

When I got a batch of 6 chicks, one started getting a comb much earlier - all the pullets are now about 12 weeks old and still don't really have anything much, but by 6 or 7 weeks the roo had a fully developed comb like those above. By about 8 weeks he started to try to crow - quiet and croaking but unmistakeable. He first did it when a stranger came to visit. He is now happily rehomed since I too have close-by neighbors!

I disagree.. all my hens have combs. I see a couple combs that are much bigger (1st and 6th pic), but it's not just because they have a comb makes them a roo. Here are two of my hens that have fairly large combs and waddles.

But, the OP states the ages as "Just 10 weeks". Of course, at 15-18 weeks, pullets do indeed get wattles (with two t's) and combs, but at 9-10 weeks, combs and wattles are very much a sign of cockerels. But, in any case? Just a little while longer and saddle feathers and such appear on cockerels and/or eggs get laid by the pullets and all that needs to be known will be known.

And its not just the wattles and combs. RIR roos develop blackish-greenish feathers around the neck and tail - see my RIR avatar (even though he is older than yours) and BR roos usually have thicker white bands making them appear "lighter" whereas the pullets have thicker dark bands making them appear "darker." The EE is the only one I am not completely sure on. Would need a side shot for that. Again the 4th pic is the only one that appears to be a pullet.

Oh never mind...Saw the pic of the EE from side - also a roo given the mahogany feathering on shoulders/wings
