My chicks are only a day old, I can't tell if they are too hot or cold - URGENT

They’ll probably be fine,as long as they have all they need and you can’t see any health problems.Hatching can be a stressful process.I’m sure you’re tired,so I would go to bed and wait for more babies to hatch and the others to fluff up and start acting a little more normal.Good luck and Good night!

one is a day old, the other slightly less, ceramic heat lamp, around 23 degrees celcius in the cooler area, but I had the thermototer in the warmer zone it was reaching 40
that is way too hot. the max should be 35 degrees. Just keep an eye on the chick that isn't opening its eyes. Since it is moving around well I would just leave it be.

yes i did, sadly these two are the only ones I got from a batch of 12 eggs, I had to move them to another house, and since one was conpletly dry and the other was almost there I put them in the brooder, I was very careful removing the shell, there was no bleeding or any issues, and this chick has been super bouncy, even in the egg.
Should I put the slightly wet one back in the incubator?

he decided to open his eyes again, i think they are ok, im just overworried, and don't worry I cooled it down by opening the top flaps in the brooder

Do you have a picture of your setup? In many cases especially if you are brooding indoors and do not have a large brooder heat lamps are much too hot. 40 Celsius will kill your chicks. I personally find the online recommendations on the hot side and start mine out at 90F in the warmest part of my brooder when they are straight from the incubator.

Here is setup
