Here's a few pics. The first two are of my son, Cody, helping me build the brooder. Then there's a pic of my daughter right after we opened up the box. The rest speak for themselves.

We had one that was d.o.a.

We have 15 Black Austrolorps, 15 Buff Orpingtons and 5 Ameraucanas.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my pics!

That's the only time I am ever happy to be called on the phone at 6:00 a.m. in the morning.

And the P.O. folks are always happy to see me when I show up! They're not even open yet, I go to the back door.

I always take my daughter with me to get the birds and she helps put them in the brooder. It's become a special father/daughter ritual.

.....Alan.

Thanks, Paddock...I'll take some better pics of the brooder and post them for the contest.

Alan....yes, that call let me wake up with a smile. I had to go to the back door, too. When I got home, my daughter promptly started a photo album and was able to take it to school with her today. She's proud of them! Next time, I'll take her with me...good idea.

When i got my chicks one of them was realy sick, we just kept her as comfortible as we could and now she is a healthy egg layer, try not to move it to much, and make sure it stays plenty warm. Hopein' for the best

and good luck
P.S I have Australorps too, they have such funny personalities, have fun with your chickens!!!!

I'm curious...it looks like there's another section at the end of your brooder? Is that for expanding with age, storage, or what??? Congrats on the new chickies by the way. Did the little orp make it?

Thanks for the well wishes for the little orpie.

Yes, there is a slide out middle divider that I will remove when they need the extra space. The lid is comprised of two frames with hardware cloth. The side walls have lips on the outside so I can clamp the lids down to protect the chicks from our two cats.
