My chicks are starting to actually like being picked up! I can't believe it! When I went out to feed and play, they come up to my feet and peck at my shoes. Well at first I thought they just were being chickens LOL! But the same ones would come up and do the pecking to get my attention and pretty much only when I was holding another one.

Now I need to make sure I wear long pants and have no exposed skin LOL!

Then when I leave they crowd around the door and stare at me walking away like little puppies...

Of course there are those who seek attention and those who run away... I have a lot more work to do with the others! LOL!

haha,,,ya some REALLY like attention,,i have alot of chickens,,when i go out and water them,, 3 jump up on my back while im crouched down,,5 or 6 rub against me,,, and i have the meanest rooster around,, that walks up to me and waits to be picked up and scratched around the neck and head,, then flip him over , and scratch his chest,,, people driving by stop and point at "us" and take pictures,,hahaha,,

my chickens sit at the back door and look through the glass when i am cooking, hoping to get a treat. If the kids leave the door open they come in the house to visit, and if you don't open the door and try and ignore them, they peck at the glass!

Anyone silly enough to venture into the yard in bare feet will be pecked untill the offending chick is picked up and cuddled, and anyone trying to eat BBQ outside will get a chicken on their lap!

i just love how some of them are so sociable and some are so independant, just like people. i cannot beleive that a year ago i didn't have chickens and i was so depressed and unwell, and a year on i am healthy and happy and i know my little flock has helped me enormously.

I never would have believed that chickens would have so much heart and personality. I've always been an animal lover of all types of critters (hence the crtrlovr moniker: critterlover), but had never been around chickens very much. I adore my chickies! (even though they're growing up FAST and turning into adults way, WAY too fast!) They have personality galore, and every day they make me laugh. They never fail to pick my mood up if I'm down, and when I'm stressed I can go sit in a lawn chair and watch them, and feel the stress melt away (at least for a while!) I'm totally amazed! Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!!!

Yes mine are the same, love attention, apart from the Wyandottes who think they are tooo goood to talk to humans! But the rest are so sociable.
