My chicks think I'm a monster :(

My chicks LOVE their food wet. If I wet their food and hold it in my hand they run to my hand every time. They have to get wet food once or twice to realize its a treat.

Well I went back to see about those greens I left- and they were gone! I will try some more treats today, and spend some more time with them- they deserve it- they are just so darn cute

Mine are two weeks old and between me and my teenage daughter we cuddle with a few. I have one that all i have to do is whistle a little tune and it will come running up to me. I pick it up and it will go as high on me as it can and just get comfy and i pet it. it goes to sleep. When i place it back into the brooder it is as if it is throwing a fit to be held again. Now others are starting to run to me when i whistle the tune. I dont think the first little guy likes it if i dont pet it first.

first week and a half my chicks hated me, i gave them some small crickets and mealworms from petsmart and at 2 and a half weeks they love me. i also put feed in my hand and let them eat out of it. i can not put my hand in brooder with out chicks jumping on my arm and hands.

I won my girls over with stale bread. Everyday, Iʻd go out and refresh the waterer, fill the feed trough and then sit down on a 5 gallon bucket so I was close to their level. Then Iʻd offer a slice of bread at a time (no more than a slice per 3 or 4 birds). After a very short while, they were hanging around me, jumping into my lap and doing tricks to get to the bread.

Just donʻt throw the bread on the ground. Then its just like scattering feed and they lose the mental connection to you as provider and think that the treat just miraculously appeared.

Birds are simple beings, but they like consistency. Do the same "nice things" for them over and over and they will respond sooner or later.
