Reminds me of my mom! She grew up w/goats and I don't know what all else. But, she can't figure out why I'm like I am. I have 3 horses, 2 rabbits, 2 goats and a few chickens.

At least you and I are but there are times I worry about you.
BTW, when they were teenagers our kids disowned my wife and I on a regular basis of once or twice a week. Comes with the territory.

I've been trying to disown my son for some time now. (Or, at least get him to move out, he's 26!) He said if we got goats, he would move out. We got goats. He's still here, and if I go away, he'll feed them for me.

I got 4 chicks this January. For awhile, they were at a friend's house since I wasn't sure how my husband would react to them. When one chick turned out to be a roo, I brought them home, and stuck them in our old dog pen. One has a crooked beak. When I took them out to another friend's farm, he wanted me to bring that one back home, says she has personality.

My friend has a hen that hid her eggs in a rabbit hutch. She hatched out 10! Unfortunately, 3 drowned. 1 was born w/a problem. I brought 2 home since I had a friend that wanted a couple of chicks, and had them in the kitchen. The kids referred to them as the kitchen chickens.

I have one hen at home, she's crippled. I did have 2, but one of them as well as one of the chicks was killed by a hawk. (Of course it would have to kill the pullet and leave the cock

) So, since she was lonely, I brought home some fertile eggs, and switched eggs on her. She hatched out 3. Doesn't bother my kids in the least that they have chickens in the backyard. I'm not sure what their friends think of my "farm".
