Great coop! and a great bunch of chickies to fill it...

To answer your questions, they can go out as soon as they have all of their feathers. I would stick to construction sand ( in between gravel and sand) plus it' will give you and endless source of grit. For the floor I have done coops with painted garage floor paint and with sheet vinyl. Everyone prefers the sheet vinyl. It is so much easier to clean.
