My Coop Construction

I was busy today after yesterday's downpour. One heck of a lightning storm last night.
The roof is a 10x10. I used 8 2x4x10's 24" on center. 8 24" 2x4's to support the soffet sides.

The roof took 3 full sheets of 4x8 osb
Then I rooled out the tar paper. Next payday I will pick up shingles and facia.

Windows went is pretty fast. The door had to be adjusted with the plunge router.
I'm moving the chicks in tomorrow. YIPPEE

I've deside that I will be using the soffet also for venting all the way around the coop. OSB on the ceiling will be installed, but with a 4 " gap all around the edge. Hinged doors also so I can close it down If to cold. Total venting is 112 sq ft, not counting the windows. That should be more than enough for 18 chicks.

Well, it rained all day, but the chicks made it to the coop. Had to, wife picked up 2 turkey chicks to put in the can. By 9:30pm I was moving them in.

Did you go off of plans for this or just "wing" it.

It looks fantastic!

Would you mind sharing cost to build with the group?

Thanks!

coming along nicely how are you planning on finishing the exterior walls, paneling or tongue and groove? are you going to insulate the interior as well?

I'm just winging. I will be insulating all walls then installing osb inside. Just picked up 5 gallons of commercial exterier paint today.
So the next dry day the building will be painted white and all trim inclideing corner trim will be green. Right now the moneys are tight, so just paint for now. Maybe later I will install siding.
