I’m new to the forum and to raising chickens, that said when I bought my house last year it came with a “chicken coop” with a child’s play house on top. I’m converting the play house into a hen house and looking for experienced insight into what I’m doing wrong and right.

These pictures are of before I started working on it.

And these are some of the things I’ve accomplished so far.

That's a great score! The hardware cloth around the windows and doors needs to either be screwed in with screws and washers or sandwiched between a wood frame, again with screws. How will the chickens get down to the run area? Are you going to completely enclose the run in HWC? If you are I would suggest an apron around the base. Pics of the inside?

There is wood trim around all the windows, sandwiching the hardware cloth. All is attached with 1” staples from an air stapler.
Around the run the hardware cloth is buried 1’ straight down and will eventually enclose the entire bottom half. Also the eves are all closed off with hardware cloth. Under the hardware cloth on all openings is window screen to preventive bugs and flying critters from entering.
Going to cut a hole in the floor and put ramp from the upper to lower half.
No pictures of inside yet, will take and post them soon. Trying to configure nest boxes and roosts and can’t make up my mind.

My chickens have moved into the upper level of my coop conversion and spent their first night last night.
More of the work I’ve accomplished.
