This is the coop I just made....no plans, and it didn't cost a thing...just scraps of material around my house. It's not being used just yet! what do you think?

I like the design! Great "found object" coop...what genius!
Maybe you can find some paneling to add to the outside to make it more weather proof, as particle board can disintegrate when it gets repeatedly wet.

I think it's great !!... mine cost a fortune and it's not even done yet (argh).

Sometimes when I drive around these mountains roads and see all kinds of scrap wood in people's yards I am so tempted to knock on their doors and ask If I can have their scraps for a coop. LOL

You get an A+ for resourcefulness!!!

I wish we had started earlier so that we could have found more at the Habitat ReStore and through Craigslist, but we had growing chicks and couldn't wait.

I tried to do "free" but only the materials were cheap (< $30), but the labor was about $300! Then the wire, paint, etc was $150...

So much for free...

Its pretty ingenious but you will need to protect the outside with something because OSB will start to swell and fall apart, especially after a seasons worth of rain.

Good job! So far we have only bought poultry netting, minor hardware, everything else was reused from our garbage/recycling "garage", cedar fencing, etc. About 90% done...
