My coop I made with stuff I had laying around.

Great looking coop...to keep your automatic waterer from freezing, and without knowing the type of system it is, could you use heat tape that is used for water pipes under mobile homes? Just wrap it around and plug it in?

Made my coop out of recycled materials also, but I don't think my scrap pile is as nice as yours...lol....mine's a little rough looking, especially when compared to yours..

Yeah I will try the heat tape for the waterer, but the problem is that the hose bib it's connected to gets shut off in the winter because it's tied to the sprinkler system. I have to figure out a way to get water from the house system out by the shed without it freezing as well. The siding wasn't on the shed yet when I built the coop, but was there ready to be installed. That probably had a lot to do with how nice it looks on the outside. It's more obvious that it was extra stuff when looking at the inside though.

Well I made the fence look pretty today! I'm going to put a little door in the fence that borders the garden so they can clean up in there once I get the gate in for the garden.

And the fence boards were extra that I got from my uncle.

Speaking of the siding, it's rather interesting... enlighten me. Finger joint? I think it looks great as is, just seal it!

Yes the siding is finger jointed so there's no knots. It's cheaper than buying actual clear siding. I believe it is redwood. Unfortunately according to the covenants in our neighborhood it will have to be painted to match the house. Oh well, I have the paint already. Just need to find the time to do the work.

My coop is insulated and I use 4 gal plastic bucket with water nipple, hangs under poop tray and near nesting boxes in my coop. For winter I just put a brooder light in the area and No frozen water and once in awhile i'd find my rooster sleeping under the lamp when it was really cold here.
