Wow!...yeah, we have bears here, too. We put up 7-foot wire deer fence to keep the "Bambis" from devouring our gardens, but our local bear kept bending it to the ground to get at our fruit trees as the plums and apples ripened. We finally had to put up electric fence along the outside of the deer fence; the first night it was finished, there was a loud ZAP! by the apple trees, and he hasn't touched the fence since (two years now). We're fervently hoping the temptation of chickens inside that fence perimeter won't lure him into testing it again. (Our chicks are about a week away from being ready for the new coop we're completing.)Didn't have a chance to do much since than. Chickens are growing, just turned 3 month old.
On the side note, we had a bear visit our house, but it stayed on the front yard. This is the first time in 3 years I owned the house. It drunk sugar water from hummingbird feeder, and I am afraid it will get addicted to my place.
