my coop (Run complete chooks in just a few details left new pics)

You hang in there kid. Sounds like he can't handle the responsibility of a real relationship... Get the coop done and be done with him.

You need someone to talk to my wife and I would be glad to talk ANY TIME... Got it ??

well here is what we got done yesterday. thankfully today will be the last day with the ex, after this I can finish it off on my own.

Gotta give it up to the kind of quality work you two can crank out together... It's really shaping up nicely. We get our coop tomorrow (if the weather cooperates).

Once he's outta there have a good cry, hug one of your roosters and move on. Like the ladies said in your other thread - the right guy will come along at the right time.
You'll be ok, I always figured it was better to be on your own than to be with someone that made you miserable (for the sake of having someone).

I wish mine was coming together that well. It's a bunch of crappy wood standing on a base right now!, but yours looks grreat

Well yesterday while I was picking up stuff from home depot we needed and ds from preschool the ex left. I guess that's all the work he is putting into it with me. While I was getting stuff from home depot, he was supposed to be putting in the vents well I guess he "forgot" same with the windows. so I am gonna take it from here, too

to ever speak to him again.

Oh and yes he is a great carpenter but if I told you what I paid for for these 4 days of help you would pass out. really it is not what I paid but what I had lent him months back, this was my re-payment.

Also I realized that the nails from the roofing he was doing as I worked on trim are all sticking through so my choocks if they fly upwards will get impaled. Gonna have to fix that too.

here is the roost and drop board I built today. and I started the walls as well I am kind of just making it up as I go along so if there are any suggestions or if I did something wrong or strangely that is why. Also this has now cost me more than if I just had some one custom build it for me or if I had just ordered a shed so I am using as much scrap wood as possible and will probably do the windows with plexiglass.

There are going to be 2 coops with a small hall the wall and roost are for the main flock, there is also a large run that I will build with a galantine pop door.

the space between the door and above where the roof peek is will be chicken wire for ventilation and such. The big open section (on right side) is where the door will be.

That is a beautiful little barn. I wouldn't even call it a coop.

The nails in the roof are unavoidable. You can cut each one off or you
can insulate the roof with some thin pink foam sheets available at Home
Depot or Lowes. You're gonna need some heavy cutters to cut all those
nails. Talk about Carpel Tunnel.

My nails are still sticking through
and a few of my hens love to fly up and sit on my top plates and collar
ties. They think those are there for them.

That really is a wonderful little building and would have easily cost $4000
or more if bought from a small building manufacturer.

What about electricity and water?

ahhh electrical and water well they are on the list for sure, the nails are gonna be a pain maybe I will insulate like you say, would be better for sound anyway. tomorrow its gonna rain, and I need to make a trip to the feed store and processor, (just dont have it in me to cull the roos this week nor the time) If there is time later I am gonna try to get the nest boxes and door set up so that I can figure out the best place to run the electrical and water. Its at that confusing stage right now where I do a lot of walking around staring and thinking lol
