Me too! Have you tried fencing off a corner of the run and putting one or two of the nicer girls in there with him? The integration will go quicker if you do that. It’s cold this morning, but everyone is up and at ‘em!
I can’t wait until Boss can come out and be part of the flock.
Not yet. We’re looking over the place, run included, and thinking of the easiest, temporary, way to get him some room with a few of the ladies. The barn is so tall, otherwise I thought about running a fence right down the middle of the coop and making another door.Me too! I love your set up.
You may want to consider putting a landing perch about 6-8" out in front of your nest box arrangement.
I know right! Lately, they run outside and then right back in.What a wonderful big coop! Mine would never be inside once the sun is up. What bedding are you using?
Is the floor dirt? If it is you can drive a few metal posts down and secure chicken wire to it so the fence is about 4' high. They won't fly over it because they look for a solid landing surface to jump up to then jump to the other side. You can install a make shift gate so you can put him and a few ladies in there in the mornings. I'd just remove the tiny coop he's in and use the left corner starting at the nest boxes then go down as far as you like. Good luck! Not yet. We’re working on it.
I’ve got five that I think will be the nicest to him once we get a quick design worked out.
Ya, I was thinking about that perch thing. So far they’ve never really acted like they needed it, but I think it would help a few of them who decide they want a different box once they’re up there.

Great coop! Looks like he has some ladies quite interested in him now.
Sloan, by choice? We have Sloans in the family. In fact, my mother was a Sloan. Not a common name. But, ours originally settled in ND.
Yep. I don't think I have any relatives there. Just thought it was a fun coincidence. I've seen a couple Sloanes, but no other Sloans before, except my family.I don’t know much about the Sloan roots that I married into.
As far as I’m know, they’ve all been Kansas people for quite a ways back.
