Bought a white rock HEN as a 4 week old chick back in April. Well, turns out HE is actually a Cornish cross ROOSTER. Just weighed him and he’s 11lbs at 19 weeks old. He hasn’t started crowing, only a few which just sounded like an owl a few weeks ago, nothing since. Can’t have roosters here so I’m hoping he stays quiet. Anyways, pictures and videos of him up to now!

When we got him as a chick, the smallest of everyone;

He’s in the front, he’s getting bigger and will only lay down, walk a few feet to get food, and lay back down again;

We thought he was big here at 6lbs, triple the others at this point. He would sleep in the house on a piece of newspaper while watching tv because he couldn’t get up to the nesting boxes (we didn’t build him a ramp yet);

Same size as previous image, but when he was awake and in the coop with the others (still doesn’t have a ramp, no big deal, he’s pretty small);

15 weeks old, now has been sleeping outside often, weighing in at around 10lbs. The other chickens of the same age are 3lbs, he is huge. Definitely a rooster at this point, and getting bitey. Loves his ladies, still want food, but now can walk without sitting down for hours like the other hens;

Him now, 19 weeks and 11lbs. He is heavier then all other chickens, but they all get along. He is clicker trained, and food bowl trained to come to you when clicked/shook. He is nice unless you have something he wants, then he will jump up and he WILL get what’s in your hand, even if inedible. Otherwise, he’s sweet and let’s you pet him. Just don’t touch his ladies while he is near them, unless you have food to give him. No health issues so far, he can walk for hours, jump, run, and do almost anything every other chicken can do, except get on the roosting poles, he hates those anyways. He has a ramp to a double nesting box (he doesn’t fit in one). If any health issues arise or he starts to crow, he will be harvested. But for now, he is a lovely addition to the flock. Only had one other rooster before, and he’s definitely friendlier.

I’m sad to announce, but Mr. Fat has died unexpectedly last night. I’m happy for all the time we’ve had together, but this was really unexpected. I let him out in the morning and he was his normal self, and when I went to lock them up at night, he was dead. He was over 20lbs when he passed, and I’m assuming his heart just couldn’t take it anymore. Rest in piece Broccoli (Mr. Fat)
