I love my chickens. They can always make me laugh after a rough day. After a rough start outside (two got eaten by a dog), my girls spent the day out in their yard today. At about 9 I thought -- holy crap, it's dark! I'd better check to see that they're in the coop. Sure enough, they were in the coop, all 10 of them on a short 2' roost in the corner. Right across from them is a lovely 6' roost but no...they all want to be right up on each other. They are so sweet. They used to sleep on top of their dog house, so I guess this is an improvement. I kinda miss the brooder and doghouse days though. Don't know what I'll do when they start laying eggs...probably go on a crying jag...my girls are all grown up!
