My Cream Legbar Rooster doesn't crow since he has his own girls.

My rooster is easy to prompt into crowing with a sound effect/YouTube video. If you are concerned you can probably test him that way, although I agree--if he's eating well, drinking, and hanging out with his girls he's probably just enjoying the competition free environment.

Beautiful boy, by the way! ❤️
That's a great idea!
I will try! 😊
If he reacts then at least I know there is nothing wrong.
If he is still not crowing next morning, then I will accept that he is just happy and in no need to make noise 😁

I bought a nice Cream Legbar Rooster from 8 months a couple of weeks ago. 🐓 (His name is Sir Roderick 😁)
When we got him home, he was alone. He looked very unhappy and miserable. He came from a group where he was bullied, so he had several scars on his comb and he had no tail...
He felt lonely and was crowing every time when he saw movement somewhere.
It was never ment to keep him alone, but the hens I ordered, are 🐣 right now and will only come in August.
So we decided to give him some girls for now. We bought 2 buff Orpington hens from the same age. (Antoinette and Beatrice)
The moment he saw them, he fell in love 💕
He is very lovely for the ladies, feeds them, protects them and the make a lot of happy noises.
BUT... Since the day the ladies came, he didn't crow anymore????
Is this normal? 🤔

There are no other roosters or chickens in the surrounding.
I can't see any lice or other problems.
He eats very goods, drinks as well...
But doesn't crow!
I love the way you told this story and made me smile to see how you are concerned for Sir Roderick's happiness.

I have a beautiful 5 mo old cockerel named Lucio whose brood mom turned out to be a horrible bully to him once her mothering instinct stopped. She wouldn't even let him drink water and I was just debating how to separate him with some nice young pullets that would be better company for him when the brood mom died suddenly from a laying problem. I'm not happy she died or anything, and I was giving her supplemental calcium to try to help her, but she was 4 years old and had a great life free roaming on our farm and raising her own chicks. Now that she isn't constantly pecking on him, Lucio has just begun to come out of his shell and attempt to crow and be protective to the ladies.

Keep us posted if Sir Roderick begins to crow again, but for now it sounds like he is very content with his lovely girls. :love

Thank you for your sweet words. 🥰

Looks like your Lucio is also a lucky and happy rooster 😊
