For those of you that are like me and VERY hesitant to tube feed, I was told to use the same Kaytee Exact baby bird formula and make a mash out of it and make small balls. I used the Chick Started probiotic/electrolyte mix water and Nutridrench to make a mash with the Kaytee bird formula and made little balls and was able to force feed them by opening the beak and putting the little balls in the back of her beak. Just fyi. However, I doubt that is enough water for her so now I am concerned and wondering how to force feed her water and that freaks me out!

They need about 30ml of water per 2.2 pounds (30ml/kg) every 6-8 hours.

For something like a big parrot it think you do, but you don't need one for poultry.

I also have gotten one from my vet
I believe it is a 16 or 18 guage

I just wanted to say thank you for your in depth excellent post. I was hesitant to try this with my sick silkie, but after reading this and a few other posts I wanted to make sure I gave her every opportunity to get well that I could. And it worked successfully despite a little shaking on my part! Here's hoping her condition improves.
