My Current Candling Device

Craigs List is a great place to find projectors. Right now there are 6-7 listed. Out here (Sacramento) they go for 25 to 75 dollars.

But I am wondering. How long can you have the egg out to candle with it cooling down, before there is damage done. Or does the heat from the light help some. Thanks, Suz

Remember, a hen leaves the nest at least once a day to eat, drink and poop. Mine sometimes left it for almost an hour! So, the eggs will be perfectly fine during candling. Don't rush it or you may drop it! My customer in Colorado found hers on Craigslist and loves it. Said she was amazed at how much detail she could see.

while I was christmas shopping at wal-mart I saw a viewfinder projector well it was 22 dollars and even with s-i-l discount I was not going to pay that well its after christmas and 40% off and I got it last night paid 12.90, eggs came in today and it works pretty darn well and when I am not hatching it is going to be a special day toy ( special day you pull out all those toys with tiny pieces or fraigile and let the kids play with them things like light brite etc. my klids have to earn this priviledge.) it has some pretty cool slides. the light shaft is a little of center but actually has a cone shape to it and seems to work pretty darn well.

I just showed this thread to my husband, telling him you have the super duper candler of all time. After he saw it, he said, "Man, I bet she gets tanned hands, too!"

We were just talking about the candling Marans eggs thread and I had to show him your projector. You're always so creative, as well as handy, at your house. This is such a great idea!
