I got a call yesterday from my brother. He said that my dad was in the hospital. He has had a headache for the past two weeks that has gotten worse every day. He made a doctors appointment for today 10 days ago. Two days ago my dad started jumbling his words and couldn't do basic math. He is a math whiz, he was having a hard time reading and his short term memory was not good at all. My dad is 49. He had a stroke when he was 30 and another when he was 31 and he still didn't recognize the symptoms. The other strokes affected his motor skills but this was in a different part of the brain. Needless to say he drove himself to the hospital and after an MRI they said he had bleeding in his brain. They asked if he had hit his head and the last time he did was on july 1st at a baseball tournament. He collided with another player and twisted his knee and bumped heads. He said his head didn't even hurt. Apparently it has been bleeding since then. They are shipping him off to vancouver and he's going to be prepped for surgery. Please be aware of the symptoms of a stroke (there are so many) because it could save a loved ones life.
