My dad has cute anemia/He passed away

Today was the memorial/funeral for my dad. We went to Chapel 2 on base, did the ceremony/talking, had the honor guard do their thing with the shooting and the flag, did a little reception, and headed off to the Mountain Spirit Center to bury my dad's ashes. I was disappointed that my half brothers didn't come with us to the Buddhist temple to participate in burying my father's ashes.. Oh well I guess. We got to keep the American flag the honor guard used and a friend is getting a frame/case thingy from the BX/PX for us too. Old friends and colleagues of my father attended too and random military people hugged my mom and I. And thank you dad for being so devoted and loyal to the Air Force, thank you for being a wonderful husband to my mom, an awesome dad to me, and a good man with a big heart. You will be sorrowfully missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Moochie. I lost my dad when I was 16 and it took my breath away, it was so shocking and earth-shattering. It's just hard, especially when you're young. I hope this will bring you and your mom closer, and that your'e able to find some peace. Rely on the family that is there for you, and don't waste your time arguing or worrying with those who aren't. Hopefully your dad's pension and other things will come through enough to help you guys survive financially. You may have to adjust some things, but I'm sure you'll find a way. Don't hesitate to contact government aid if you need a little extra, even just for a little while. Your counselors at school can also help you, or find a supportive teacher who can help you out - I'm a high school teacher and have helped my students find aid when they needed it - it's what they're there for.

Hi Moochie,

My husband died when my children were 12 and 15 years old. That was 4 years ago. I was very upset and my kids were very sad.
I think that is to be expected.

God loves all people and so know that you can pray at anytime for comfort. We did that a lot.

Also know that your mom will feel better as time goes by but she may have some bad days, even a couple years from now. I still have some days that are really sad for me and sometimes I get angry and I think sadness and fear are behind that anger.

My children are doing great. They had a couple years where they were more quiet and thoughtful. They had some sad days too. Sometimes things bother them for a reason that we cannot see, but I think it is the sadness and the missing of their dad.

But one of my kids got a good scholarship to college and one of them is doing great in high school, and they are both really loving people.
I am proud of how they handled their loss. They kept making positive choices and they turned to God for comfort.

I am thankful that one of the BYC members recommended that you tell someone whenever you are having trouble in anyway. You can always send me a personal message and of course, school and temples/churches are wonderful places to seek out caring people.

I will pray for you every day, so know that someone is praying for you and caring that you and your mom keep the wonderful memory of your dad and that your broken hearts will mend.

Thank you for your kinds words.
Um, would anyone know what to do with worthless foreign money? My dad has alot of foreign money that he collected.. It's either currency that the country doesn't use anymore or there isn't enough to do anything with it. We only have 62.5 (usd) cents worth of Viet dong, the Croatian 100k bill we have is no longer useful, and I'm just going to assume everything else is old junk taking up space too. Except the money from Korea and Japan that my mom gave him, that we can actually use.
I don't want to throw away the stuff he collected in the garbage but I don't to keep it either since we can't use it. Not sure if we can re-sell it since dad got them from eBay for super cheap.

You might give the money to a school teacher. If they study that country, the students might like to see the coins and bills that the people use. There is a web service called freecycle where you can advertise stuff you are giving away, and people come pick it up if they are interested. If they have that in your area, you could list your stuff on it and maybe someone else could use it. I get a lot of free stuff for my classroom through freecycle donations.

Great, now my neighbors think I slaughtered their pet cat and the deputy sheriff is coming over to talk to me. Life just keeps getting better and better.

Why in the world would they think that? Is this a long term neighbor issue?

There's an empty house next to ours and the owner of the cat was in the backyard of that empty house, found the head of the cat, found the body of the cat in garbage bag, called police and blamed us or more specifically me. My mom talked to the neighbors and the cat had its head chopped off, it's 4 feet chopped off, and it's body cut open in 2 places. There was only 3 paws in the bag with the body so today when the cop was over she asked me "do you have the 4th missing paw with you?" what kind of question is that????
We've never had any problems with the owners of the cat, in fact my mom offered them empty bottles and cans to help them get money over the summer. My mom gave them some goods from the garden too. The owner said a week ago he was walking around early in the morning and heard me yelling "i got it mom i got it", then meowing, then the meowing stopped, so he thinks that I slaughtered his cat. I used the word "slaughtered" because of what my mom told me about the remains of the cat. He said that happened around 4-5 AM and I'm fast asleep at that time. The cop that was here thinks that it's me who did the terrible things to the cat and she said she will continue to investigate the situation. My mom and I told her that we don't mind that but if worse comes to worse we're getting a lawyer.
In my opinion, it sounds like a complete sociopath did it or someone in a cult. I've seen online and documentaries about satanists who chop off the heads of chickens and goats, a cat would probably be no different to them. If my dad were here he would straighten everything out... My mom said everyone is picking on me because she has cancer, if she didn't have the treatments and wasn't obviously weak the cops would pick on her/blame her for everything. This is a total mess and I can't believe it's targeting my mom and I.
