My dad says my 16 week old pullets won't lay til spring..T or F?

Do you have a light in the coop? If you do they'll start laying before the end of October.

I don't know about all the others but your barred rocks will lay all through winter!!

This is so SICK...I can not WAIT!!! It's like a count down to some spectacular vacation u planned 4 like a year...but it's not a vacation..IT'S AN EGG!! and I can't wait til my baby lays an egg. Should I put some golf balls in the nesting boxes yet??

Golf balls won't MAKE your hens lay eggs, but they will assist in letting them know where to lay them when they do start to lay.

Frankly, you don't want them to start laying too soon. You want them to lay on their own, healthy, internal schedule.

Yah, I understand how many people have trouble with that waiting process. Hang in there - they'll lay before Spring! (So THERE, Dad.)

I was just looking up info on my rocks yesterday...as we get ready to settle in for winter. From what I have read they will continue to lay, maybe not as much but it should happen. I've been told they dont need heat in the coop ~ but dang it gets cold here in Massachusetts! Just gotta get a special heater to keep the water from freezing. Good luck, you will have to let us know when you get your first egg. Mine just started laying a week ago, they are 4 1/2 and 5 months.
