My (Dan Powell) Gold Laced Brahma pair

I only have 1 hen and yes she is laying her eggs are pretty good size aswell about the size of a store bought egg. I'm very sorry to hear about your chicks not making it. This is the 1 of the bad things about getting shipped chicks once they get chilled it's hard to overcome it. It's actually a funny story about how I ended up getting my pair. I found a guy giving away 3 Gold Laced Brahma Roo's 6+ months old. So ofcoarse I took them how could I not for free right? Anyways I had also just found a guy selling (Dan Powell) Buff Laced chicks online. He was pretty local so I took a drive out and ended up buying 4 Buff Laced chicks and after talking for a while I ended up talking him into selling me one of his hens. This guy by the way had the best looking Brahma's I have seen any where period! Also after talking for a while I found out that he bought his stock straight from Dan Powell. And his breeder stock is actually what Dan was going to use for his stock this year before he closed ofcoarse. The reason I asked about Jon Burton was that is where the guy got my Roo's from got his aswell he bought 8 hatching eggs and only 5 hatched 4 Roo's and 1 Pullet. So he give me the 3 Roo's and people told me the same thing that 2 of them were cull's they had light color feathering and light lacing. Once my breeder saw them he said the same thing that 2 were culls. Having said that he ended up keeping 1 of them because he had so much feet feathering he was going to use him to try and improve the feet feathers. And also you can take a dark hen/roster and breed with a light hen/rooster and improve the coloring. I'm very happy with my pair if only I could get her to be happy with a nesting box and lay every day Lol. I have also heard that Dan use to breed his gold and buff laced Brahma's together to improve the lacing and coloring? Not sure about that but either way I couldn't be happier with this breed.

Wow, thanks for all the info on them! Looks like you have yourself the start of a good breeding program. If I decide to give them another go, I would definitely want to buy eggs from someone like you.
