That's not too far, I live in South Carolina. Are there any good hatcheries around you? Or nearby that you know of? I'm looking for a trustworthy place to buy my goose's friend. I think I want one that already at least a month or two old

I know you wanted one that is a month or two but Metzer's farm still has goslings available.

Gosh my computer is being weird and posting my stuff multiple times. But thank you for that tip. I'll have to check them out. I'm concerned that maybe she won't be friends with the one I get if it's a different breed. Any other advice?

They don't care what breed. Miss Lydia has Toulouse and Embden. I have American buff and Toulouse and Embden together.

I heard that if they are raised with a duck that they make good friends as long as its only one goose and duck, because with more than one goose, they will pair up and shun the duck.... I'm really considering a duck now, because Toulouse are very calm and trusting, so I don't think I'll have to worry about her being mean to a duck. Although she does get a tad rough with the kittens, but I think she just hasn't quite figured out how to play with them just yet. I'm also having to talk to the Metzer people about ordering just one of anything since they typically only sell pairs and up.

They dont know that they are a different breed then the other. i have 4 different breeds runnning together and they all love eachother.

I have 2 ducks and 2 geese that arrived together. They love being together. The ducks act more like geese than ducks. When I had other ducks they would never interact with the ducks, only the geese. Even act like the geese. That may change next year when breeding season rolls around I have a notion.

Who cares what your neighbors think? I don't. I have been known to sit out by the chicken,goose,duck pen with my nightgown on talking to my "children". I have 3 acres, if the two neighbors have nothing better to do than watch me they have problems.

That's what I think to at this point. I walk my goose around the property and talk with her and they all laugh at me. Who cares? I love my goosey. And I just found the cutest call duckling ever that's only two hours away from me that I'm going to go pick up tomorrow with any luck. I'm so excited!!!!
