Not the best picture of my beautiful daughter (she's loosing a front tooth), but a good picture of the chicken she named "blackie", because of her beak. She and I looked over hundreds of pictures in the chicken identification section on this website, but didn't find a match. Is there anyone out there that can help us? Thanks so much in advance! -Nenyon

Better picture of daughter, worse of chicken.

If it's a mix and you are looking to get a good chicken as a pet for your daughter you might want to look into breeds that are better at being held

that way she can spend lots of time with her new friend.

Thank you both for your responses. We just hatched 3 buff orpingtons this weekend, which will be her new pets. Hopefully they're hold friendly? Big white unidentifiable will be going bye bye eventually. She had asked if we could hatch another, so I thought I'd give identification a try. Thanks again!

Hi! Interestingly enough, my daughter is interested in the same kind of chicken, only she saw it in a magazine ad. The response I got was that it is a California White. Good luck!

They are indeed "hold friendly". She will love them. They are big sweethearts. Enjoy.
