If left untreated it can cause myriad issues, the same with regular strep throat. If strep is left untreated (especially in children), it can develop into rheumatic fever which is truly bad.
This can be bad (and the rash is pretty gnarly), but I think that it was caught early enough. *crosses fingers*
I had Scarlet Fever when I was in 1st grade... at the same time as I had Chicken Pox! I just remember being pretty sick. Glad you caught it early. I pray she gets better soon!
My DS had scarlet fever when he was younger. It is just strep throat with a rash and the strawberry tongue. Not a big deal these days. Same antibiotic you'd take with strep throat. Hope she feels better soon.

Since she was 5, my youngest has gotten strep twice a year, and half of those times she's had the rash, too.
This is the first year we've made it through fall/winter with NO strep/sf! WooHoo!
