It's a wonderful name. It is somewhat interesting that the alpha hen when Maleficent joined my flock was a Black Copper Maran.

Beautiful bird! Mine has yet to show her “big girl” feathers. I have a blue copper rooster and I am anxious to see what he turns into too. I just call him my “roo man” for now but I have have two “roo men”

The Maran hasn’t been brave enough to try but the white one tries all day long and gets an angry flock of hens chasing him for his efforts! They are only 14 weeks and the white one started crowing and mounting at 11-12 weeks which was mind boggling. The Maran is still transitioning from peeping to clicking.
